Janez Marenčič
We are sad to again announce, that on February 25th our good friend and colleague Janez Marenčič passed away. He was a lawyer and economist by profession. He was one of the founders of photo club in Kranj. He participated with his art works on many exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad for which he received many prizes. He was the first person within the Section of Slovene photography to make an own exhibition in 1971. He has repeated this action 3 more times in 1994, 2000 and 2004. In 1993 Modern Gallery of Ljubljana prepared an exhibition of his most prized works. This exhibition was also displayed in the well known gallery Ullysses in Vienna.
He kept in touch also with the modern trends of photography and unlike some of his younger colleagues, he approved the technical novelties and digital photography. His most famous words regarding this topic were »It's not important how the photography is made. The important thing is that it's good!«
In his 70 year career Janez Marenčič as a photographer, basically achieved everything. He was one of the first members of Section of Slovene photography. He was named master of photography by Photographic association of Slovenia, and he received EFIAP title from International Federation of Photographic Art. He was a distinguished and honored juror on many photographic exhibitions. He was a good friend, wise companion and a great mentor. In our photo club is considering his absence a great void and we will miss him dearly.

He worked as a curator and director of Slovenian museum of natural history in Ljubljana for many years. Marko has been a member of our photographic club for more then 50 years. He was it's president from 1993 to 2001 and also some years before that. He was the driving force of Kranj's photography and in 1970 participated in set up of the Section of Slovene photography as the initiator and one of it’s founders. He participated in it's projects right till the end. He was a very creative author mostly known for his portraits and landscape photography. His works received many prizes and awards on Slovene and international exhibitions. Marko was a creative author, always full of ideas, ambitious member of our club, translator, writer, great expert on photographic history, a great person to talk with and most of all a good friend.
